Marvel movies used to be action adventure comic book films with a bit of humor. It was a unique blend that worked very well. This is fine for GoTG but its too much now.
I just saw Thor Ragnarok. The film is a comedy with cgi. Every single character, major or minor, is there to deliver one liners. There is zero tension or gravitas, any sense of danger or importance, even when huge events happen in the universe. The audience doesn't care because everyone knows the next joke is coming in <1min and they're waiting for the laughs.
But its sold out so clearly people don't mind. I felt it was a huge letdown.
