I just noticed that The Purge: Election Year is on HBO right now. I've never watched any other Purge movie, but I feel like I understand the premise - basically once a year all laws are suspended for 24 hours, so everyone can just whatever they want.
Would it be stupid of me to watch Election Year without seeing the others, or does it stand alone similar to Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane? I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find anything that didn't start getting into spoiler territory.
