Coming out of The Last Jedi with my family, I sat at a table in the mall food court while they ordered burgers. I heard a loud noise and noticed a middle-aged man and a young autistic girl who looked maybe 12 or 13. He had a tight grip on her arm and held her up as she struggled to get down on the ground, yelling "OW! MY KNEE! OW!" Something seemed odd to me, so I kept watching as he pulled her to her feet and then dragged her by the back of her neck toward the mall exit. As she passed by me, she looked me in the eyes, still saying "OW! MY KNEE! MY KNEE!" and pointing at her knee. She did the same thing with the store workers she passed, and then they were outside.
I considered confronting him since something felt wrong to me, but I hesitated because he could've just been a disgruntled parent of an autistic child removing her roughly after her meltdown caused a public scene. In the parking lot, I saw them again and pointed them out to my family, but they didn't seem as suspicious as I was. Am I overanalyzing the situation? I checked the news and the local missing persons list (this is the upstate NY Carthage/Watertown/Thousand Islands area) and couldn't find anyone who matched their descriptions. I'm not sure if I should let it go or take any farther action.
