I really, really wanted to watch this movie for a long time, but I knew I would become physically ill watching the famous amputation scene. So I used some video tools on my computer to edit the scene out (I literally amputated 127 Hours).
Now granted: I'm kinda weird, and I know I did something that 99% of people would never bother with. But I know how I'd react to seeing that scene, and I figured this was a good compromise. It's not like I'm saying nobody should see this, but I know my limits and I tried to accommodate them.
So I'm curious: what do you all think of me and what I did? Is it sacrilege? Did I somehow cheat myself out of the full experience (even if that experience might include panic attacks or nausea)? If you were Danny Boyle or James Franco (both of whom obviously worked their asses off to film this scene), would you be offended or angered that I "personalized" my copy of the film experience? Have you done anything similar? Discuss!
