I love Arthur Christmas. I think it's a brilliantly funny, heartwarming Christmas movie, but the math is a bit off. Within the movie Grand Santa says he is 136 years old and did 70 "missions" (Christmases), while Santa is completing his 70th Christmas during the course of the film.
These numbers alone would mean that Grand Santa wasn't even born yet when he started his run as Santa.
So I looked for more evidence, and the opening scroll shows the Santas with the years they were active underneath, with Grand Santa's showing he was only active for 39 years. This would mean he started at age 27, which works, and likely means Grand Santa was telling a white lie when he said he did 70 missions (not surprising for his character).
But upon closer examination there are other issues with the years... The below are the listed active years from the portraits, and you'll notice that the 14th Santa must have never completed even a single mission, while the 15th Santa was active for 6 years at the same time as the 13th Santa.
Santa Claus the 1st 295-369 (74 years)
2nd - 10th (average 118 years each)
Santa Claus the 11th 1430-1491 (61 years)
12th (50 years)
Santa Claus the 13th 1549-1634 (85 years)
14th (0 years? Negative years?)
Santa Claus the 15th 1628-1689 (61 years)
16th - 18th (average 71 years each)
Santa the 19th 1902-1941 (39 years) (Grand Santa)
Santa Claus the 20th 1941-2011 (70 years) (Santa)
Italics are the Santas without portraits, with the data extrapolated from the missing information
