Me and my wife have spent hours looking for the right gifts for the right person. In return I've received literally a bag full of sweets and socks from my mother and sister in law. It's not so much it being cheap, but is just the lack of efforts and knowing that my family don't know me at all that really make it frustrating. My wife got a sweater and a cheap necklace to go with it that make her look like she was 50... she's only 27 though and never wore anything that ugly to give them a hint that those gifts would have been truly appreciated XD.
