It's amazing what filmmakers can do with CGI animation these days, but I will always have a soft spot stop-motion. To this day it blows my mind when I watch a film that features it, and the amount of work and attention to detail that goes into it. What is your favorite use of this special effect? It can be either a particular scene or a whole film itself. My favorite is the Robo-Cain villain in Robocop 2 (1990). You either loved the movie or hated it (I loved it personally), but you can't deny it features some really neat effects. The amount of time and work that went into building and operating that hulk of gears, hydraulics and weapons always gets me. Check out this action sequence (possible spoilers).
