I know he can be a pretty controversial director at times. For example, Godzilla seemed to lack a basic component of the movie which was Godzilla but was visually stunning. Rogue One seemed to have a lack of characterization but was also visually stunning. However, one thing that both of these movies had going for it that would make him the perfect director for a Halo movie is his direction for military sequences and epic visuals. Godzilla was able to portray the military in a realistic manner and Edwards took it further with Rogue One and his stylistic choices for Imperials and the Resistance. Honestly, he already has the characters and the story plotted out for him. So long as he doesn't deviate too much from it he would be perfect I would think. What do you guys think?
