I just recently got around d to watching Artificial Intelligence recently, since I was fairly young when I saw it last. I must say, the special effects still look pretty damn good. I fully expected to be let down by my childhood expectations, but was greeted with a beautiful film where the CGI still looks good by 2018 standards.
The movie itself is also fantastic. Watching it now, being able to grasp on to the gravity of it's themes makes it better than I remembered. It is an amazing take on the plight of AI as they become more engrained in human life. What happens when they are obsolete and are exchanged for a new model. The distain from some humans as they become more common and real. Also, one of the biggest themes is the "line" where artificial I is just intelligence; where it is now a he or she, holds so much weight today as AI are slowly becoming a part of daily life.
I love this movie more now than I did before. I would recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi of the likes of Isaac Asimov or even Philip K Dick.
