I'm no reviewer but there's just something about this movie.
I first saw it when I was about 12 and just recently found it again. It's one of those lesser known movies where I felt immediate connection with on a personal level and was dying to find any sort of continuation once it was over.
It tells a story about a guy who broke up with his girlfriend and was struggling to get over her. Days go by as he losses sleep. He decides then to trade his extra 8 hours he now gained with working a night shift at a local supermarket (cashback for his hours). A little bit later his gains the ability to stop time entirely at his will (he then proceeds to undress all of the female buyers and paint them, but it's not weird...).
One of the few things that really got me was his discussions and observations about dealing with the mundane 8 hour shift. He describes how each of the workers developed a strategy to pass the time. There's just something so real to that. While this movie is about love, it isn't in a conventional hero goes out of his way to please his loved one type of way. It isn't about war or poverty, about explosions or drugs, it's just about that - the simple struggle with the mundane.
Also the narration and cinematography is really quite unique.
I wish I was a tad more eloquent in order to properly describe this movie and its weird meaning to me. I hope that I managed at least to share this awesome movie here in a proper way, and maybe attracted more people who are into these types of films. There's also a lot of boobs in there so there's that.
Cheers.
