So I went to see The Commuter the other day and it was a perfectly servicable little action film. It occurred to me afterwards that I normally wouldn't have watched something like it (I haven't seen any of the Taken films f'rinstance), but it slots into a genre I like that I hadn't really realized existed until I thought about it.
That genre would be INTRIGUE ON A VEHICLE.
I realized that I like rather a lot of movies where a crime of some sort happens on a vehicle mid-transit (am most fond of trains) and a protagonist passenger(s) have to deal with it. There's the feel of a locked-room mystery, but with a concrete countdown, as usually the situation will drastically change if/when they reach their destination.
The Commuter is a perfect example. I tried to think of as many others as I could.
