I'm not going to go over specifically why this movie is bad...that's been covered enough. I'll just say that the plot holes are indefensible and the movie is an insult to the series...it even retroactively ruins TFA...which was an OK movie.
What I was thinking is that the Dreadnought general...who gets blown up at the start...is pretty much the only good character in the movie. They almost threw away a lot of great understated actors like this in eps 1-6, especially 4-6....and that's what set the backdrop of authenticity....a sense of dignity/authority/integrity/order among the leadership of the Empire. Guys like Tarkin or Pyett...believable military leaders.
I dunno, just an observation. This movie had so many echoes of greatness...but not nearly enough.
