Looking past all of the other things left unexplained in the movie (the vampiric photo-sensitivity), what would be a logical way for the creatures to sustain themselves underground as an isolated cannibalistic population without another obvious food source (little or no water and no vegetation)? Is there a real world example of something like them being able to carry on multiple generations?
