first off, just wanna say that I loved this movie. It's my third favourite film of 2017 behind BR2049 and Logan. However, a certain trait of Mildred Hayes' character seemed kinda odd or put in a more appropriate way, inconsistent, in retrospect. When Mildred assumes that the police burned down her billboards, she retaliates by burning down the police station. However, when a man (later believed to be a suspect in the rape and murder of her daughter) enters her shop threatens that he may have raped and murdered her daughter, she does nothing. Also, when the dentist shows discontent with her billboards, she "drills a hole into the dentist". When she is being choked by her ex against the wall, she does not do anything. When her ex reveals HE was the one who burned down her billboards, it looks like she is about to break a wine bottle over his head but doesn't. The writing for this character and the subsequent choices she makes seem a little inconsistent, in my opinion. Am I wrong or am I missing something, or overanalysing the film, because I would like to know. Apart from that, I loved Frances McDormand in this film and expect her to win numerous accolades for this incredible performance.
