Was San Andreas (2015) a parody of disaster movies?

Ok this movie really seems like it’s a parody of disaster films, but told with a straight face. What I’m talking about for example is The Rock’s character: all his dialogue is similar to his character in The Other Guys, his character is so corny and cliched.. it’s so bad it’s good. The “aim for the bushes” line wouldn’t feel out of place in this movie. He flies his helicopter with more precision than Han Solo or Poe. He saves his ex-wife then flies a plane to San Fransico towards the end and sky dives out of it, landing on a raft that he uses to ride a mega-tsunami over the Golden Gate Bridge. To save his daughter. The subplot for his daughter is even worse: she meets this cute, shy, British dude before the quake, and they talk for about 30 seconds, where she learns he’s interviewing her stepdad. so when the quake starts, her stepdad instantly abandons her (wtf) and the new lover starts searching for her because he knows she needs rescuing (because why not? they said a few words to each other. clearly in love). Paul Giamatti meanwhile plays the worried scientist who saw it coming, and we get to see the Hoover Dam break as he’s testing it for earthquakes (because fuck you). His team of hotshot scientists includes a hacker and a character who is constantly doing math (and has fucking tattoos of math equations all over his arms). The scummy stepdad and family drama is cranked up to an 11 in this movie and feels intentionally hammy. And you know what? All of that is okay, because the movie is fun as hell, and knows exactly what it is

TL;DR I’ve been struggling to figure out a way to say all of this because it’s something you just have to see to know what I’m talking about. Feels like it’s taken every disaster movie cliche and amplified them while winking at the audience
