I watched Todd Haynes' "Safe" for the first time recently and was blown away. It unnerved and entranced me in a way that nothing has in a long time - it reminded me of Lynch's stuff, but subtler. I guess what I'm really looking for are films that deal with the horrors of everyday life, but without beating you over the head with messaging (no "Falling Down" recs please). Does anyone have any recommendations for films of this sort? Thanks in advance.
