Just a late night rant.
Everything that's happened in Hollywood since the Harvey Weinstein scandals have just been a parade of hypocrisy, especially as I get a somewhat first hand look into the world of lalaland, and I just have to say something about it.
It's just crazy reading Taratino's "13 year old party girls" comment, I know he isn't malicious or nearly as bad as many others but come on...all of them defending Roman Polanski from Meryl Streep to Natalie Portman to Taratino, etc....13!!!! Even if he didn't do anything illegal, and even if it wasn't coerced, doesn't anyone just think it's disgusting and weird for an adult to be attracted to a 13 year old anyway????? I remember the second I become a high school freshman I would no longer have been interested in hooking up with an eight grader, but these people act like it's the most normal thing.
Same with Weinstein...they knew FOR YEARS, but now suddenly they are crusaders for social justice because it's become personally convenient for them to be so. It's just ridiculous. It seems this old guard of the so called "liberal" and "progressive" hollywood elite just aren't working, and maybe it's time to replace everything with something new. They arrogantly insist that anyone with opposing political or social ideologies are bigots and wrong, but clearly find nothing wrong with an adult using drugs and alcohol to have sex with a 13 year old. I'm so sick of having to be quiet or pretend to agree with things when I know how hypocritical and dishonest it is.
Something needs to change, and I think it's time to realize that the so called "progressive" hollywood elite do not have a monopoly on truth or right, never have, and most likely, never will.
