The Foreigner Review

The Foreigner is an action thriller film released in Late 2017 to mixed reviews. It stars Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.

The music is spot on, the cinematography is great, and everything else is...above average. However, this movie's strong suit is the casting. Jackie Chan plays a businessman who, after his daughter is killed in a terrorist bombing, seeks revenge. Brosnan plays a former member of the terrorist group (based off of the Ireland Reunification groups) turned politician. These two would be the last guys you'd expect to be playing these types of characters, but they do a great job making these characters come to life. Jackie Chan in particular makes this film stand on its own.

The story is, like I said, above average. Better than most action movies I've seen. The rest of the characters are written well, but ultimately, they fall flat.

I'm really not sure if this movie had an overlapping message. I mean, it had little sprinkles of social commentary here and there, but I don't know.

This movie is an easy 8/10, and if you live in the UK, you can watch this right now on Netflix. I do recommend this movie, especially if you're a fan of Chan or Brosnan. If you care about an overlapping message, I guess this is a movie for you, I mean, I wouldn't know, but just give it a chance.
