Changes in trailers and marketing materials leading to premiere

I've been noticing a lot lately how trailers for movies change leading up to the premiere for a movie. Wrinkle In Time is a prime example. The first trailer back in July 2017 was very suspenseful and mysterious, using the "Sweet Dreams" remix. When I went to see Black Panther, there was a newer trailer using Alessia Cara's "Scars To Your Beautiful".

I just saw an ad for Justice League that openly shows Superman. He's on the Blu-Ray cover, even. All trailers leading up to the premiere of this movie hid Superman away (we all knew he was coming, though).

Do you think that these trailers don't test well, so they make new ones with pop songs and other changes to be more appealing? There are a bunch more examples of movies that have done this with their trailers, but I don't keep a list.

Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed this trend and maybe knows why it happens.
