In making ready player one Spielberg choose to make the movie feel like he read the source material when it first was released to the public and never go back to it, choosing instead to either work from memory or totally make the scene up.

The movie is good but the book is nothing short of incredible. The mix of possible becoming of reality and a cross breed of magic imagination and nostalgia makes the words of ready player one novel nothing short of perfection. Then you watch Spielberg’s creation and he butchers the source works, he chooses to ignore every great thing and even going to length to change the plot twist and delete some characters meaningful additions to the plot. Spielberg’s movie I’ll say again is good but it should have been a stand alone film and cut ties with the book and chooses to make something different. The book and movie if you change names of characters and places you wouldn’t be able to tell the two are related.
