The new Star Wars dropped the ball with two out of three of the main villains.
I want to see a movie that tells us the back story of Phasma. Some of this might contradict supplementary material, but I don't care.
So, have the red armor the imperial bodyguards wear be made of some rare metal that deflects blaster shots and even helps vs light sabers*.
Young lieutenant firstname Phasma gets assigned to some fringe world that is only important because there are mines for fancy armor metal there. She is in command of a company of stormtroopers that are security for the miners. The locals don't like the imperials** and there are rebel fighters there too.
Have the movie be a mix of the second half of Full Metal Jacket and The Hurt Locker, with the Empire as America and the Rebel as the Viet Cong/Insurgency.
Phasma starts out idealistic but gets shocked and bitter as her soldiers get killed in ambushes and to booby traps.
At some point, they capture a rebel and Snoke shows up as a Force using intel officer. Show Snoke as an up and coming officer, skilled at mental manipulation but not so much good with a light saber.
Rebels attack, leaving Snoke with his scar, most of the stormtroopers dead, and the prisoner killed by his own side so he can't be interrogated.
I want to see sympathetic stormtroopers who's names we know being killed by autonomous rebels who are willing to kill civilians to hurt the Empire.
I want to rewatch Force Awakens and be thinking about someone tragically dying in Phasma's arms when she yells "traitor " at Finn. I want complexity and moral ambiguity because 6*** movies of the hero's journey is getting old and they have so much unexplored potential in this setting.
I know, doesnt work vs protagonists, just run with it. * I know, first order whatever still just the Empire. *** What prequals? I have no idea what your talking about.
