Following my recent posts here and in r/truefilm looking for Dutch, Danish and Swedish film recommendations, I am now looking to explore Finnish cinema.
It is a film industry I know nothing about with only Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale springing to mind as a Finnish film I have even seen (though I have been meaning to watch The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki for some time now).
Have you seen any Finnish films which made a strong impression on you? If you have watched a lot of Finnish cinema are there any general observations you could share on what makes it distinct.
Thanks on advance for your suggestions!
