Comedy - a fading movie genre?

Somewhat subjectively, it seems like less and less comedy movies are being made produced.

(EDIT: see comments below for Wikipedia list of number of comedies in the 2010s)

Of course action and drama movies remain at the top. Horror movies are still going strong. But the comedy genre seems to be disappearing.

Most of the comedy we’re seeing is in the form of quick jokes in super hero movies, in animated films, or in dramas.

What’s happened?

We’re no seeing movies like Anchorman, Bridesmaids, Borat, Shaun of the Dead.

We’re no longer seeing romantic comedies like Hitch, The Proposal, 500 Days of Summer.

We’re no longer seeing teen comedies like Knocked Up, American Pie, Mean Girls.
