IDK if this is the place to ask this, but my Lenovo Laptop won't work with my Oculus

I have a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop and a Oculus Rift, but when I plug the HDMI cord from the Oculus, it doesn't read and just says to plug it in directly into my graphics card. Is there any saving it?
