So I finally saw The Void...and I'm disappointed. I respect the filmmakers for what they were going for here, but unfortunately the film was simply a mess.
The acting was rather poor for the most part and the story itself didn't really make much sense. It was similar to The Cloverfield Paradox in the sense that stuff just happened with no rhyme or reason to it. The main villain came out of nowhere as did his goal which I'm guessing was meant to symbolize the birth of the anti-Christ or something like that, but it just didn't work.
Outside of some cool and grotesque creature effects there wasn't much to the film. It was quiet and boring a lot of the time and filled with characters with no, well, character.
I really wanted to love this film. John Carpenter's The Thing is my all-time favorite horror film and I thought this would be more like that, only with a strange cult in a hospital (which is a great setting for something like this), but it wasn't like The Thing.
The Void just didn't work for me unfortunately. What did you guys think?
