Can we take a moment to discuss how overall brilliant this movie is? From the classy direction by David Cronenberg, to the career best performances by Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Cassel, Naomi Watts, and especially Armin Mueller-Stahl--this film is a master class.
I know many will dwell on the bathhouse fight as the standout scene in the film (and for good reason) but I think my favourite bit is just the casual attitude Nikolai (Viggo) has of cleaning up the frozen body. The tie flip over the shoulder, nonchalant teasing of the barber shop owner, putting the cigarette out on his tongue, and getting down to business cutting off the corpse's fingertips. Utterly convincing.
If you haven't had the pleasure to indulge in this flick, I highly recommend it!
