The film is about a poor guy who works construction, he decides to marry his friend daughter from Italy who he has never met before. He writes to her and she promises to marry him and come to America only if he owns a house. He doesn’t own a house but lies that he does and they get married. She finds out and they eventually decide to save money towards the house, but then the Great Depression hits and they have many children. In the end I remember he dies from a tragic construction accident.
