At this point it's safe to say that DCEU is struggling to stay afloat. A lot of its movies are too dark with no coherent chemistry or actors looking like they're having fun. We know WW2 is gonna be a hit just because they have a good character, gal gadot is a decent actor and the director is pretty good. But other than WW2 the only other movie I see saving DCEU at this point would be shazam. It's the perfect stepping stone for WB to go from dark and broody JL films which were panned to a lighthearted funny entertaining movie that Marvel is known for and churn out hits. Zachary Levi being a good actor will probably do wonders and The Rock being attached to it even in just producer capacity might be enough to change the perception. I think they're trying too hard with JL to make us care about characters but is Shazam the last straw? I think they made Aquaman too bro-ey to actually have a decent story and turned Superman from an upstanding citizen to a brooding survive at any cost superhero. If Shazam fails where does DCEU go from there?
