Primer gets a lot of attention for its insanely complex time-travel plot. However, the real emotional anchor of the story for me is the relationship between the two main characters, who discover something so incredibly disruptive that it winds up tearing apart not only their friendship but possibly (depending on the meaning of the final scene) the world as a whole.
What are other films that deal with, either on a micro or macro level, the implications of a radical technological leap?
(P.S. I would count The Discovery as similar, both in tone and content)
EDIT: /u/Pallis1939 's comment suggestions a clarification. Let's restrict to movies in which the characters themselves are the discoverers and/or first possessors of said disruptive technology.
