Today the thousandth celebrity was accused of harassing coworkers, and it's a horrible thing that shouldn't exist. However, that means no more Morgan Freeman ever again, Morgan Freeman damnatio memoriae, even if said allegations were proven to be false. And I don't get it. He's a terrible person if what he's being accused of is revealed to be true (not trying to imply it's been made up) and I will never esteem him in the same way (e.g. I liked the way he talked about racism issues, for example), however, this doesn't change the fact that he's good at acting. Same with Kevin Spacey, a rapist, a maniac, but a great actor nonetheless. And I don't get why I shouldn't still admire their ability at their jobs despite without everybody telling me not to. I would never be friends with people like these, even if I could, but that does not mean that I wouldn't cast them in my movie, if people didn't know their real behaviour. Your opinion?
EDit: History is full of artists who had questionable or downright despicable ideals; racists, sexists, fascists. Heck, there are full-on bad history figures who managed to do one or two things right; examples are Wagner (reported by friends and historians to be a horrible person), Nero (he prosecuted christians, went crazy and fucked his mother, however he saved Rome from a catastrophic economical chrisis), italian pre-fascist poets and writers. Look at the early days of animation that featured racist stereotypes. Ignoring or censoring these facts would be borderline 1984;
edit 2: I'm getting downvoted to hell aren't I?
