This could be a role that's supporting, or a tiny part. But I think we all have a performance that we have loved or even found award worthy but got overshadowed by someone else IN THE FILM, usually because of the sheer talent they're up against.
I could think of a LOT if tried, but the first one that comes to mind (because I'm watching it now) is Julie Hagerty's role of Elaine in Airplane! She's equally as solid in performance against everyone in the film, Leslie Nielsen included. Her line reading and facial expressions are spot on. Watch this scene with her dancing to "Staying Alive."
