IE; Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus. We get her back story via flash backs, she's the protagonist in the entire film and the lone survivor of the expedition. And then in the next movie she's raped butchered and killed (literally and figuratively). Oh yeah, off screen too. Makes all of it even worse.
Next characters are from Pacific Rim. Charlie Hunnam didn't want to come back, that's fine. But the film makers decide to NEVER mention his character again. Ever. What this does is it just makes the entire franchise 'world' seem shallow and shonky as fuck. All that world building for nothing. The character that literally saves the pacific rim world is never mentioned again. Maybe it's unclear the character is coming back because of the actor? So add dialogue "Gee I wish Raleigh were here right about now!" Maybe the actor does want to come back? "Gee I wish Raleigh weren't off in the mountains right about now!". You get my point.
Now since Raleigh wasn't in the story that really doesn't make Mako relevant does she? So let's have her interact with our shoe-horned main character that was NEVER mentioned in the first film and let that be her only interaction and then kill her off. Not like she also saved the world or anything lol.
Nah she probably survives that helicopter explosion when Charlie Hunnam reprises his role for Pacific Rim 3.
