Scheduling is one of the biggest constraints in Hollywood. Given limited schedules and budget constraints, it’s hard to get quality actors in smaller indie projects that may not gain as much attention. Why hasn’t the industry embraced short films? A twenty minute feature directed by a big-name, with lots of acting talent would be a short film and could maybe make a lot of money in online streaming services. Want an Oscar? Go the Kobe Bryant route and make a short film. I know it’s not as easy as I’m saying to make any film, but a short 20-minute film would be significantly cheaper and quicker to make. There could be a big indie market for huge stars in indie shorts that took them 3 days to film.
