I live in a conservative part of the US, and as a result, a lot of people in my area won't watch most R rated movies. However, a large number of these people are fine with watching an R rated war movie. It just has to be the war genre. Even my parents are like this - they won't watch a movie that's rated R, UNLESS it's a war movie. In fact, they rented American Sniper when it came out and watched it with my younger brother and myself. They also saw Hacksaw Ridge in theaters. I've always found this to be really odd, because R rated war movies are typically extremely violent and contain quite a bit of profanity. Has anyone else encountered this?
