If you take a look at older movies and tv shows you see the way people act feels “forced”.
Not that it was wrong in anyway, that was just the norm. Expressions and body movements were over the top to really convey emotion. Even the way they spoke was a bit exaggerated.
Obviously the switch to the more “realistic” way of portraying a character didn’t happen instantly but gradually over the decades.
But I’m sure there are a handful of movies that had a noticeable “switch”. I read somewhere citizen kane did such a thing, but I’ve never seen the movIe to compare.
Any thought?
