Dragonslayer is an often forgotten fantasy movie that I first saw as a kid, and to this day, it's special effects are in some ways unmatched today. Of all the movies that have used stop motion photography for major parts of it, this film did the best job of any of them. It's not the fastest paced movie, but the last 40 minutes are pretty amazing. It was a joint production of Paramount and Disney, but it's most definitely not a typical live action Disney movie. Blood, violence and even a little nudity. It certainly doesn't give an impression of a middle ages anyone would want to live in, dirty and miserable looking. If you have the Encore group of channels on any subscription service, you can see it on demand. Just watch long enough to check out that dragon crawling along in it's cave. You will be impressed.
