As may be obvious from a few previous posts, I like to take the ouevre of a particular person and sort it all chronologically by setting. Thinking about That Think You Do! today made me decide to do Tom Hanks. So below is all the film and TV works of Tom Hanks sorted by when it takes place. In cases where it's a flashback structure but Hanks appears only in the past, I use that date, but if the future, then I use that date. I'm also including all of his Saturday Night Live appearances because even though he's "himself", he appears in many sketches as various people and that's cool. It's too hard to sort each sketch though (that way madness lies), so just the full episodes. Here we go!
1776-1910 FREEDOM: A HISTORY OF US - PBS webseries, Hanks appears in seven episodes
1931 Road to Perdition
1935 The Green Mile (this one's tricky since the same character appears old. You could put it in 1999 if you want)
1942 Every Time We Say Goodbye
1942 Ithaca
1943 A League of Their Own
1944 Saving Private Ryan
1944-1945 Band of Brothers (TV miniseries)
1942-1945 The Pacific (TV miniseries - narrator)
1941-1945 Beyond All Boundaries - (narrator) a special short film exclusively at the World War II Museum in New Orleans

1957 Bridge of Spies
1962 Volunteers
1961-1964 Saving Mr. Banks
c.1964 HAPPY DAYS - "A Little Case of Revenge"
1964 That Thing You Do!
1966-1971 The Post
1970 Apollo 13
1902, 1958-1972 From the Earth to the Moon (TV miniseries) - this one's a little weird because in the last episode Hanks plays someone working with Melies in 1902. But the rest is concerned with the space program.
1969-1972 Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D (IMAX short film - narrator)
1963-1974 Catch Me if You Can
1980 THE LOVE BOAT - "Friends and Lovers"
1980 He Knows You're Alone

1984 Bachelor Party
1984 Splash! (and he wasn't in it, but you can throw in Splash Too! if you want)
1984 The Bonfire of the Vanities - I wasn't sure where this went exactly. Obviously it's the '80s. The book came out in '87, but the original serialized version in '84, and the story concerns an election year, so I put it here.
