I'm writing this while Johnny Depp's character is talking with Howard Howe/the shitty friends in the diner. I'm not even finished with the film and this is the first time I have ever seen it. I knew generally what it was about and that it kind of sucked if not definitely sucked but this is... this not what I expected.
It's not that it's intentionally trying to be a B movie or even that it's trying to be a great movie and falling short, it's a movie experience I have never had. I am impressed, this movie is amazing. Never have I felt this feeling of a constantly active and pronounced feeling of "Ugh this is so bad I hate this".
But it's bad in a way I can't even like it for how much I don't like it. I have never been so unhappy/frustrated by art in my life.
Jesus fuck I just now looked back at the TV and experienced the scene where HJO makes that big lebowski reference and then Johnny Depp is still there and UUUGHHHH..... UUUGHH... God damn this movie is so fuck off what... It's not even poorly acted or poorly shot it's just never giving me anything other than joyless anger/resentment.
I have so many specific complaints that would make for a significantly better post but I am just so flustered. OMG THE OLD MAN FROM REDSTATE IS IN HIS OWN WALRUS COSTUME???? FUUUUUCK THIS MOVIE.
Also where did the asshole friends get guns? I should have been paying attention.
