I just got around to watching The Florida Project (loved it), and kept wondering if Halley was on any drugs? We never see her using, just drinking and smoking cigarettes. She does give that bag of weed away to the lady in the laundry room, but we don't even see her use that.
I ask because she generally reminded me of friends from high school who have developed heroin or meth addictions, in her speech patterns and wayward movements. There's something almost... consistently unbalanced(?) in the way she would move, not majorly so, but just enough that made me wonder. That and her vomiting after punching up her ex friend seemed strange.
That said, I never saw any drug paraphernalia around the room, and it didn't seem like she was feeding a need for a fix, per se. But she definitely seemed to exist in an altered state often times, and I wonder what any of your thoughts or theories might be?
