I’m sure there have been posts like this before but my favorite movies are the ones that leave you feeling gut wrenchingly empty and shaken and usually involve addiction/mental illness/loss... some of my best examples are Requiem for a Dream and Boogie Nights. Runners up go to every pseudo-documentary about troubled musicians like Love and Mercy, Whiplash, Ray, Walk the Line, etc... Need recommendations for more!
