Mannequin was great to watch.

I was just lying on my couch today when I got the sudden urge to watch Mannequin for no real reason. The last time I watched that movie I was about 10 years old. A decade since I watched this movie, but I still remembered the character Hollywood Montrose.

Sucks ass that nobody on the internet is streaming it, so I called up the few video stores in my town that were still alive to see if they had a copy. And is if the gods were answering my prayers, this one store had a copy I could rent out. I took a 30 minute train on the metro, took a short walk, and bam! The first video store I've been in for over a decade.

Man, I missed the feel of a movie store. Just seeing all those movies on the shelf. My family wasn't too big on Blockbuster at the time, so we would always go to the Hollywood video around the corner. It just felt so good to be in the same environment with people that loved movies, buying out the snacks, and looking at the staff picks. Besides Mannequin, I picked out Salo, The Driver, and Roman Holiday. Plus, I got a free homemade cookie that the owners bake and sell. I was walking back to my apartment, I had my movies in my hand, and I felt excited to watch them. You don't really get that feeling anymore.

Shit... Mannequin was fucking great. I don't care if people give it shit, this movie was hilarious and fun to watch. I haven't felt that feeling in a long time. I freaking love Andrew McCarthy, Kim Catrall was such a babe, and Meshach Taylor as Hollywood had me smiling the whole time whenever he was on screen. And that's what I love about movies. They just make you feel good.

And I'm glad I took the time to visit a video store. I missed the environment.
