Even if he couldn’t beat Harry Potter with it directly, he could had given some to Professor Quirrell to ensure securing the Philosopher’s Stone, came back to life, and would’ve had years to kill Harry before he came of age.
Not only that, but he could’ve defeated Dumbledore with ease, since a bunch of Hogwarts students fended off powerful Death Eaters with just a couple drops of liquid luck.
