My recent pick would be "Halloween" (1978).
Don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite movies. The score is amazing, I love the atmosphere, and it does still creep me out.
That being said...I showed it to a group of people who had never seen it, and mostly everyone either laughed, hated the girls, or wanted Laurie to die ("Why are you dropping the knife?!").
While I can understand the importance of the movie and what it means for cinema, the movie is extremely dated, characters are fairly shallow (never realized how little Loomis does until the last five minutes), and nothing really registered with anybody who watched it.
Still one of my favorite horror movies...oh well.
What's a classic film that you don't think stands the test of time?
