Recent generations don't know what it's like to talk on a chorded landline, yet when your cell phone is low on battery you're attached to the charger and thus also stuck in one place while using your cell phone.

The entire point to inventing chordless phones is to not be stuck in one place while on the phone, yet when smart phones are low on battery that's exactly what happens.
