I have seen people say that the film was originally meant to be a mini-series all over reddit. It was not; the intention was always for it to be one, singular film. I am unsure as to where the former claim originated, but Joel Coen debunks it outright in a recent interview with the LA Times.
Joel: There was a discussion about what the format should be, but it was always the intention that they be seen together. There’s been all this stuff in the press about how it was originally a TV series and we restructured it. No, we had a script. The script is exactly what we gave Annapurna and exactly what we shot. That never changed.
Perhaps I am wrong, but this seems like a categorical denial to me. Cheers!
