So I am just hanging out and my brother puts on District 9. I had always remembered it being a piece of shit and not liking it. I just got done with work and wasn't in the mood but....
Holy shit.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece and I cant believe I ever felt this way.
I've in fact been searching the web for good Sci-Fi movies the last couple of years and absolutely never would of watched this movie again if it wasn't for my brother. I'm buying him something nice for Christmas this year ; )
By the time they reached level 4 I was quite litterally sitting forward in my reclined chair! It had been so long I couldn't remember anything past this point and I'm so glad.
The special effects are absolutely hold up to any modern standard for the money they had. I dare say they hold up to anything today. The alien design and weapon designs are perfect.
The soundtrack/sound design of thus movie really supports/drives the movie in that rare way that's integral to the film.
They story is as satirical as Starship Troopers at points and as emotional as a Guardians Of The Galaxy at others. It's simple but man it hit me in the gut.
I cant imagine anyone other than Shartlo Copley playing the lead....It seems that everyone who worked on this put everything they had into it!
If you were like me and had completely written it off based off of one viewing 9 years ago and enjoy Sci-Fi, do yourself a favor and go watch it now.
Anyone else have this same experience on the rewatch? I'm off to go scout the net for comics/news of a sequel. Anything to get more of this story.
