So I watched the same lame comedies all the time as a kid. Talladega Nights, Waterboy, you name it. I love all these in their own right, and most jokes that were lost on me as a kid finally make sense. However, one movie has a joke that is lost on me. Employee of the Month was a film starring Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson, and even though I’ve seen it a million times one joke doesn’t make sense, and I’m hoping for an explanation here.
jessica Simpson gets introduced as the new girl, and she walks in to slow mo as everyone’s jaw drops Dane cook introduces himself and they start to hit it off everything is going well until the antagonist introduces himself and steals Danes thunder Jessica: Nice to meet you, I’m Amy Renfro Antagonist: oh Renfro, is that Nordic? everyone looks awkward and uncomfortable Jessica: No Antagonist: Really? Judging by your Romanesque stature I assumed you were from Nordica. Dane Cook: Nordica? That’s just north of timberland, right Vince? everyone laughs
I understand that he’s commenting on her shape and stuff, but what does that final line mean? I reallllly don’t get it and I feel like I’m missing something basic.
Thanks for your help !!
