I watched a few snippets of Roma earlier and noticed the English subtitles to be lacking in their translation. I know some things don't translate well, but even with my not so great Spanish it seems the parts missing would've been easy to add into the subs. Mostly small little phrases were left out here and there, none of them changing character's message. However, with all the praise this movie seems to be receiving you would think Netflix would put more effort into the fidelity of the translation. Is there a logical reason for this, like not wanting to have too much text on screen at one time?. I know del Toro did his own subs for Pan's Labyrinth because her didn't like how translators treated his prior movie..
