Rogue One had one of the most badass teaser trailers I've seen. Some cringy dialogue, but the scenes and shots it had teased were really interesting: Rebels being transported by Stormtroopers through what I assume to be Jedha, Cassian, Jyn, and K2 running through the halls of the Scarif Citadel, presumably being chased by someone (Vader, perhaps?), Krennic walking through destruction on the Scarif beach, a bald Saw Gerrera, and of course the money shot, the protagonists actually running out in the open while being fired at by the AT-AT.
What happened to this version of the film though? Why did Lucasfilm cut so much and re-shoot most of it? This teaser seemed to show a darker and grittier version of the film, and I had seen rumors circulating online that the first script was even grimmer.
I did like what we eventually got, but it's very obvious where the re-shoots lie. Saw Gerrera's role seems to have been massively trimmed down. But of course the re-shoots also allowed us to see the badassery of Vader. Am curious to see what other people think about this other version of the film.
