Thoughts on Polar (spoilers)

SS: I eagerly watched Polar last night with optimism and moderately high expectations, i woke up this morning still unsure what to make of the whole movie. So I thought I'd write them down to try and make sense of it all.

Firstly Mads is the man and seeing the actress whos Lagatha (from Vikings) peeked my interest, not to mention the trailer looked awesome.

Now my biggest problem is that the synopsis indicates that Mads will be pitting his wits against the new kids on the block and yeah thats pretty standard fair in this type of movie, however, they all die less than half way through and I painfully struggled to get to the end.

To me it was a film that didn't know what it wanted to be. It felt rushed, very badly edited and at times comically bad. It try to replicate the 'cool, glossy' violence of films like John Wick and Wanted but just went overboard and absurd (trailer scene fat guy anyone?)

As an Englishman I really struggled with Matt Lucas as Mr Blut, i kept laughing when I probably shouldn't have due to his mannerisms and cheesy lines, Google Little Britain and Shooting Stars, it's why I can't ever see him seriously.

Also the ending, what was that? Hmm how do we wrap? Let's pan out staring at the protagonist and his now friendly aide, cheesy line indicating a sequel, job done. Meh.

Look as much as I bashed it, it isn't the worst film ever, nor the best. I dont know why but I expected more. Oh well, next time I guess.
